The Road Towards Becoming a Life Coach
Well, the road to my becoming a life coach is part of the reason I am a life coach! My life journey has been dedicated to discovering my uniqueness, passions, gifts, talents, joys, pains, wounds in order that I can live the fullest life I have dreamed of and been made for. And I love to give away what I have received. Counselors, studies, assessments, experiences, jobs, relationships, and mentoring all have helped mold, shape, guide, develop and reveal what’s within me so that in turn I can use it to serve others and enjoy my life.
I’ve been interested in life coaching since I was 23, but no one is going to take life coaching from a 23 year-old. So, I spent years working for and learning from other success coaches. I got my degree in communication with minors in psychology and counseling and HR development. I knew I was going to work with people, but I didn’t want to spend all my time focused on the past like a counselor. I wanted to help people move forward toward the dreams in their heart like a coach.
For many years I was involved in the talent industry as model, actor, and spokes-model traveling across the country to represent brands at national events and stand on stages in front of thousands of people to inform, educate, and entertain, but I also spent years working as a scout and coach looking for and helping people of all ages all across the country to develop and prepare for the entertainment industry. It was during those years I really honed my own gifts for coaching. I tuned my ears to the sound of passion and fear in people, and used my gifts of encouragement, counsel, empathy, wisdom, teaching and intuition to inspire and encourage and guide them to overcome their fears and insecurities to move toward the dream in their heart. No matter the age, the sound of a dream in a heart is a unique sound. A sound I fell in love with. When you hear and see it in a person, you know it. And, I never forget it. Few things are as beautiful as a heart fully alive doing the thing they are passionate and gifted to do.
No two dreams are the same. No two people’s capabilities are the same. And helping people get clear on where their gifts and passions align is a magical moment. But many people allow themselves, the way the think, their ignorance of their unique design, what others think, and burying their desires and passions to stand in their own way! And, that’s where I come in!
