David
Ampofo is the Host and Executive Producer of Time with
David.
After obtaining a degree in political
science from Escuela Nico Lopez in Cuba, 1986, David
went into broadcasting, reporting news for the Ghana
Broadcasting Corporation. The following year, he won
the award as Best TV News Reporter. And in 1988, he
was named Ghana’s Journalist of the Year.
In 1990 he added the prestigious Brittania
Award to his list of honours. This British Government
scholarship sent him to the University of Wales, Cardiff,
to pursue a masters degree in journalism. On its completion,
David was selected to intern with CBS in New York.
Respected for the independence of his
thought, he is an assertive, self-motivated and extremely
diligent professional. David Ampofo has also worked
as the West African correspondent for Carte Blanche
(a leading current affairs programme on MNET, Africa’s
leading pay per view network).
He also worked in the print media whilst
at the Africa Desk of the UK newspaper, The Observer.
He was also presidential correspondent
during the administration of President Jerry Rawlings.
He started out his television career at Ghana Broadcasting
Corporation as the host of Ghana Television’s
main news and current affairs program, Search Light.
He also hosted Hot Issues on TV3, Ghana’s independent
television network. His professional career spans a
20-year period and he is well known for the many ground-breaking
interviews and field reports that he carried out. He
has a keen interest in politics.
